FAQs

Can I transcribe for my child?

Absolutely! We appreciate that storytelling comes in all forms. If your young child is still an emergent writer, parents can transcribe their story and type it out for them. If you would also like to include their phonetic writing, we are happy to include both in their submission.

Can my child submit a short story they have already written?

We are delighted that your young writer has already written a story or two.

For this writing initiative, we encourage all stories to be new writing creations centered around the year’s selected theme.

How many illustrations can my child submit?

As we will be including short stories from many students from various schools, we will be asking for one black & white illustration to be submitted per child’s story.

When can I submit my writing?

Submissions will be accepted until April 8th, 2024, but if you have completed your story (typed and ready for publication), well before this date, we are happy to receive your story anytime before the submissions close.

Will you edit / correct spelling or grammar in my child’s work?

We believe in sharing the unique storytelling voice of your child at that moment. We will publish their untouched short story the exact way that it has been submitted to the DLC.
